Another year draws to a close here at Windmill Boer Goats/ Wellas Cattle Co. We would like to thank our heavenly Father for a very successful year. While it is wonderful to relish in a successful year past, it is time to focus on the future.
Here at Windmill Boer Goats our buck battery is moving ahead by leaps and bounds. With the exit of our friends at Dragonfly Boer Goats we got the opportunity to pick up a fantastic new buck to add to our herd. He is DSM B6 Special Quarter. His sire is the 2012 ABGA Champion Special Delivery. He is a very appealing buck with great length, thickness and disposition all on a moderate frame.
The next change is DK Cashue. He is the 2013 4S Goat Expo Champion Buck. He was bred and raised by DK Boer Goats, well known producers of successful 4H wethers in this region. He is a very appealing goat as well with a bright future.
Finally, the more things change the more they stay the same. Our herd sire DGFLY Macs High Noon has been retired but has been replaced by his son WGC Full Court. He is a buck that we raised out of a doe our kids own from Dragonfly Boer Goats. She is DGFLY Jade and has five Enoblements in her pedigree as well. He is a more moderate framed buck than his sire, something to my liking. He is extremely smooth from the shoulder into his loin and has a very nice butt as well. He certainly has acceptable thickness as well.
The cattle portion of our ranch, Wellas Cattle Co. seen a very successful year with the sale of our second calf heifers. The future in the cattle business looks very bright also. We have sold all of our bred stock and are in the procurement phase of the cycle in our bred heifer business. So far, we have acquired a couple large strings of angus and bwf heifers. Look for more info on these in the fall of 2014.
If you would like to call or stop and take a look at the goats or heifers we welcome you. Personal visits may take a little scheduling between high school events but we will work something out.
